WE NEED YOUR HELP. DONATE TODAY.
Dear Friend,
This is the moment.
Are you aware that African American women 25 to 44 years old are homicide victims of domestic violence three and a half times more often than White women of the same age?
I find this statistic staggering. This is what compels each of us at Harambe to keep the doors open for victims of domestic violence who seek our help, support, and a pathway to a new and better life. In this American moment, when our country is taking a serious look at its history of continuous oppression and racism, we need your help — because the lives of our women are still in jeopardy.
The number of Black women and their children coming to us for help increases every day. The COVID-19 crisis has dangerously exasperated the issues victims in our communities are facing. Unfortunately, not all victims have a safe, confidential place to make a Zoom call. However, with your support, Harambe can meet the needs of those survivors by providing vital counseling and legal advocacy in a safe, socially distanced environment.
Now is the moment to step up and support advocacy for victims of domestic and sexual violence in our African American/ Black communities. Everyone deserves to feel safe at home – and in a time when we are all quarantining with the holidays upon us – we need to act now to keep survivors out of harm’s way and free from domestic abuse.
Make a gift today to Harambe.
We must raise a minimum of $25,000 this year so that our doors can stay open and we can continue our critical work. With your support, we can meet our goal and save lives. Don’t let victims stay home without help — they are counting on you. Together, we can change the course of their lives and end domestic violence in our communities.
In gratitude,
Rose A. Williams, MSW
